Abstract: Cold formed steel are those steel which are manufactured at cold state by rolling or pressing. It has different mechanical behaviour than hot rolled steel, such as strength of cold formed is higher than hot rolled steel. When stainless steel is manufactured by rolling or pressing, it is said cold formed stainless steel. Stainless steel have different chemical composition. Due to difference in chemical composition, it have property of corrosion resistance. Due to corrosion resistance and high strength use of stainless steel is growing. Stainless steel is used in many area of our daily life such as bridges, buildings, aerospace, automobile industry, and surgical equipment. Many architectural parts buildings fixings, door handles, furniture are made from stainless steel. Domestic use of stainless is in hollowware, sinks, and smoker, bathroom and kitchen items. Stainless steel and carbon steel have different mechanical and chemical behaviour. Despite being different mechanically from carbon steel, design provision of stainless steel according to current standards are fallows the rules of carbon steel. For design purposes of resistant of bolted connection EN 1993-1-4 and the SCl/Euro Inox Design Manual of stainless steel fallows the rules with some modification in EN 1993-1-8 and EN 1993-1-3. - In this study an effort has been made to find bearing behaviour of bolted connection of cold formed stainless of thick plate. Modelling in ABAQUS has been done of specimen, which are tested before having material as ferritic stainless steel and it is validated with experimental results. Type of failure is also validated with experiment. Parametric study has been done on basis of validated model having same material. Edge distant, end distant and thickness are taken as variable for study of bearing behaviour of single shear bolted connection made from stainless steel. Bearing coefficient has been find out from parametric studies for 1 mm and 3mm deformation criteria.
