Issue Date: May-2015
Publisher: IIT ROORKEE
Abstract: DDoS or Distributed Denial of Service attacks consume services and bandwidth of the victim. The old architecture of Internet is sensitive to many attacks such as DDoS and an attack and defense game is still continued. DDoS attacks are becoming more common, as well as emerging new technologies, to separate the control plane and the data plane from network devices (SDN).Throughout this survey I will investigate how OpenFlow can help prevent and locate these kind of attacks. I will study the different DDoS attacks and the current mitigation techniques. I will discuss as well, which of these techniques could be improved with OpenFlow and how to develop them. In the end, I will implement and test some identified mitigation techniques and we will study their behavior.
