dc.description.abstract | The hydrocarbons such as LPG, MS, HSD, LDO, FO, etc. are stored in open terminal and depot. Therefore it is important to study the behaviour of large open hydrocarbon fire. The fire in the open tank is the main consequence of radiated thermal flux which has huge potential to damage the surrounding facility leading even to human / cattle fatalities. This dissertation deals with the study of open tank fire having gasoline stored in them in a tank farm. Various atmospheric conditions and their effect on the behaviour of the fire and the received thermal flux on the adjoining tank considered. With the help of various established models, the behaviour of fire is predicted and then the amount of radiative heat flux falling on the adjoining tanks is calculated. Based on this radiative heat flux, further required amount of water is calculated to protect the adjoining tank. | en_US |
