Abstract: | Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) Dams have now become vcry good altcrnative to large conventional concrete and embankment Dams because of their economic consideration and spccd of construction with other benefits. These are new kind of dams so they are associated with new risk as well, one of the most basic things is seepage loss and other one is its Unknown proper Seismic Behavior. The seepage losses in RCC Dams is mainly through darn body, as these dams are made in layered basis means rolling is done in layer wise When one layer is properly compacted then fresh material fed up again and again compaction is done which will leads to two surface interactions which are not properly bonded. These interacted surfaces in horizontal direction are main weak link of these kind of dams which allows water to seep through it and under the effect of Earthquake these vulnerable joints get easily deboned which finally leads to Dam failure The present study would involve comparative study and performance review of - these kinds of RCC dams. |
