Abstract: This report studies performance of Z-source dc-dc converter. We get a small amount of voltage via the renewable energy sources. So to utilize power we use the inverter because the input is DC form. But we can't vary the magnitude of the output voltage via inverter so we use a DC-DC converter to buck or boost the voltage. But these converters have their own limitations. To overcome the conceptual barrier of these converter a Z-source DC-DC has been introduced. This report discusses the recently proposed Z-Source DC-DC converter technology that can overcome the limitations of the existing technologies. The Z-source converter (ZSC) overcomes the conceptual and theoretical barriers and limitations of the traditional voltage-source converter (abbreviated as V-source converter) and current-source converter (abbreviated as 1-source converter) and provides a novel power conversion concept. The Z-source concept can be applied to all dc-to-ac, ac-to-dc, ac-to-ac, and dc-to-dc power conversion. The operating principle of the converter is also discussed.
