The purpose of a Shakemap is to provide rapid estimate of strong ground shaking which provides emergency response organizations some useful information in case of a damaging earthquake. This report investigates the existing hybrid procedures for computation of Shakemap in near real time and also how local site conditions affect the ground motion prediction analysis. Further, a strategy to generate shaking maps for Delhi NCR for a moderate size to large magnitude earthquake recorded at one or more stations within the Delhi region is outlined. To validate the method, a recent earthquake in this region has been chosen and the corresponding shaking map has been generated. This shaking map has been compared with a synthetically generated acceleration time series of the same event and the results have been found to be acceptable. Lastly, some scenario shaking maps have been generated to better understand the seismic risk to Delhi region from nearby tectonic features.en_US
