Abstract: The injection of small or medium sized distributed generation units introduces various technical issues for the control and protection of the system, when operated in parallel with grid supply. Amongst these need is there to protect the system from the issue, introduced by the distribution system .When we connected the with the power system, during the fault, the fault current increased tremendously due to this, fuse ,relay ,circuit breaker not work properly, we required to change these protective device so the cost of the system is increased. For minimize the fault current and avoid to increased the protection cost we use the FCL(fault current limiter). FCL minimize the fault incurrent by introducing the variable impedance in series with line impedance. By connecting the extra impedance with the line total impedance increases and fault current decreases. So, the changing the protection device is minimize and protection cost is also minimize.
