Abstract: In a building there can be many be many parameters whose values cannot be know exactly. It is a well know fact the uncertainty exists in everywhere through out process of design and construction. A single parameter could give different values when measured at different time and place. There is a scope of error everywhere. All such parameters can be grouped into either Loading Parameters or Capacity Parameters whose values are random and cannot be determined deterministically. Wlieii a parameter is not deterministic, a structure will not achieve 100% safety from failure and there exists a certain amount of risk/danger associated with it always. The objective of this work is to determine the reliability indices for a reinforced cement concrete building as the building goes into different damage states. Also the work may facilitate us to make a comment on the efficient and accuracy of existing strength and resistance factors which we have been employing in the design codes. For the present study the niaterial safety factors used are relevant to IS 456:2000.
