Abstract: | The present study focused on evaluation of activated persulfate (PS) anion (S2082) oxidative degradation of p-nitrophenol. The results indicate that PNP was effectively oxidized by PS in aqueous system. The activation of persulfate by metal ions could be enhanced with an increase of molecular ratio between Metal ions:PS. In case of activation by metal ion only presence of a reducing agent enhanced the degradation. The degradation of PNP by heat and metal ions co-activated persulfate also showed a dramatic enhancement with an increase of temperature because the activation of persulfate by heat was much more effective than the addition of the metal ions at the exteiit of temperature and molecular ratio studied.ln the case of co-activation of PS with - both metal ion and heat near about 96 % TOC removal occurred at a temperature of 90°C.
