Abstract: | Ground Penetrating Radar survey is conducted in the eastern boundary of the Pranhita-Godavari basin in the nearby area of Gondpipri, Chandrapur district in order to delineate and reinterpret the possible controls of depositional processes. The study encompasses a systematic application of several data acquisition techniques to mark the evidences of the basin boundary conditions, to delineate the different types of unconformitieS and interpret the depositional behaviour of sediments in the region. In the search for the relative chronology of the sediments in the particular environment the objective is to identify reflections that represent sets of crossstratification and bounding surfaces so that relative chronology can be established from cross-cutting relationships. This includes the identification of reflection terminations and truncations indicating onlap, downlap or erosional truncation at stratigraphic horizons. A non-conformity, which is the contact between the basement gneiss and the overlain sediments, has been identified. Sedimentary packages with the traces of cross stratifications were identified for every profile. Also, local depositional processes such as water level rise and fall, tectonic relationship with these processes have been interpreted. |
