Abstract: The hot deformation behaviors of 60/40 brass was investigated by isothermal compression tests on a Gleeble 3800 thermal-mechanical simulator in the temperature range of 525–750 ◦C and the strain rate range of 0.1–10 s-1. Most of the stress–strain curves exhibit a single peak stress, indicating a typical dynamic recrystallization (DRX) behavior of the alloy. Further microstructural observation confirms the occurrence of DRX behavior and the beta to alpha phase transformation of 60/40 brass under the deformation conditions. Comparsions were made from obtained true stress strain curves in the temperature range of 525-750 0C with strain rate varying from 0.1 to 10 s-1.
