dc.description.abstract | In this thesis report we have studied the effect of a plane wave incident on a periodic structure of sub-wavelength stepped slits composed in metallic gratings. We have studied the Extra Ordinary Transmission (EOT) phenomena for the structure whose dimensions are smaller in comparison to the wavelength of plane wave. In this report, we have studied both the extra ordinary transmission through periodic array of sub-wavelength symmetric stepped slits and its equivalent circuit models having approximate circuit parameters. The conditions for selecting the best model which is more accurate and when has been proposed in this report. The transmission efficiency for both the periodic structures and its equivalent circuit models were obtained and have been shown to reach as great as unity. We have also obtained results for different slit width and have studied their effects on the resonance frequencies. Various scopes for adapting this structurel has been given. Here we have only considered the case of symmetric stepped slits. | en_US |
