Abstract: The rapid growth in wireless communication has increased the demand of high performance and low cost front end receiver. The most of the receiver parameter depend on the mixer design and parameter. So the mixer design is important concern in front end receiver circuit. An active mixer can be design which would satisfy the needs. The HBT mixer is design in that concern which would provide the high conversion gain but high noise figure. As to satisfy the main requirement of the modern communication system HBT mixer is design for low noise figure and modest gain. This would be a great help to RF front end circuit as reduce the number of amplifier and hence lead to compact size of receiver.
