dc.description.abstractAn antenna designed as a printed monopole, operating in the UWB (ultra wideband) range, compact in size, fed by a CPW (coplanar waveguide) and having multiple band-rejection characteristics is proposed and studied. The antenna has an inexpensive FR4 substrate and its dimensions are 21 mm x 19.5 mm x 1.74 mm (L x W x H). The shape of the radiating patch represents diverging steps. Two sets of spiral slits, quarter wavelength long are placed on the radiating patch to generate multiple band-notched characteristics. The simulation results in the form of impedance matching, gain results and radiation patterns are investigated. From the test results, ultra widebands in multiple regions were obtained over the frequency range 2.7 􀀀 20 GHz with VSWR < 2. Multiple bands have been notched to lter out WLAN, WiMAX and major part of C-band. Since the location of the transceivers will be unknown, the radiation pattern of the antenna is preferred to be omni-directional.en_US
