The use of Solar Photovoltaic System either as distributed generators in public AC networks or as isolated generating units supplying is one of the new trends in power-electronic technology. The main objective of this report is to identify the problems associated with grid connected solar photovoltaic system. The inverter inter-links the renewable energy sources and power distribution network systems for the conversion of power. In grid-connected systems, several current and voltage harmonics aff ect the system performances. Likewise, highly unstable devices coupled with the growing demand for nonlinear loads and renewable energy resources influence the power networks and systems performance in terms of power quality. The effective solutions to these problems are Passive Filters, Static VAR generators and Active Power Filters (APFs). However, the use of PFs in a high power system increases its cost, size and weight. This study aims to assess the most advanced APFs by reducing the number of power switches. The current techniques and their limitations for developing advanced inverter-based devices for Solar Photovoltaic Systems are discussed. Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technique is used in designing Inverter connected to Grid. The reference signal in PWM method is taken from grid voltage as a feedback signal to reduce the percentage of Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). The change in %THD using PWM Inverter in different cases are discussed with justificationen_US
