dc.description.abstractIn our country, more than half of economic activity is carried out in the informal sector. informal enterprises play an important role in the economy, especially in their contribution to job creation yet this sector faces many challenges of survival. There is no standard and specific definition for informal economy as different organizations and different studies have a lot of varying definitions. Informal economy is commonly described as a section of the economy which is not formal. Development of these various informal activities takes place in the pockets of city urbans cape, which tends to attract or where there is an agglomeration of number of people. Example of such places includei. Central business District (CBD) and outskirts. ii. Fringe area of a city iii. Construction site which also include infrastructure development sites. iv. Small scale industries. v. Transit corridors and stops. i.e.- Railway stations, bus stops, metro stations. vi. Informal settlements. One of the component of TOD includes informal sector integration which aims at the development of the informal sector along with the TOD, as it not only provides convenience to the commuters but also provides employment opportunities to the many people.en_US
