Abstract: Compton Coincidence Technique is a method based on Compton scattering that can be used to determine important detector parameters such as non-proportionality of light yield, intrinsic energy resolution, energy resolution of detectors having low atomic number. This method is employed to measure the electron response of detectors. The objective of this project is to determine the intrinsic energy resolution of Compton electrons in LaBr3:Ce, LaCl3:Ce and CeBr3 by using Compton Coincidence Technique. A detailed study of CeBr3 was done by measuring the variation of its intrinsic energy resolution with the coincidence window value, which is a time window set for coincidence to occur. The process of optimizing the coincidence window value for a given source is also discussed.
