In this study a methodology is developed to estimate residual strength of corroded short reinforced concrete column. In this method effect of corrosion on mechanical properties on reinforcement, cover loss of section due to corrosion, individual buckling of bars and loss of confinement due to stirrups corrosion is used to draw P-M interaction curve of deteriorated concrete column. Three column sections with different amount of corrosion are considered and P-M interaction curve for these sections are drawn for different amount of corrosion. Residual load carrying capacity of column section is determined for corrosion in bars at different location (compression side, tension side etc.). Two approaches are used to determine residual load carrying capacity of column. The results are validated with available experimental data. Comparison of produced result from adopted model with experimental data shows that used model is conservative and can be used to predict reduction in load carrying capacity of column section because of corrosion. All computer programs are written in MATLAB software for getting P-M interaction diagram of short column. Then different models for effect of corrosion on reinforcement and concrete are introduced and results of P-M diagram for non corroded as well as corroded sections are plotteden_US
