Abstract: | The global temperature increases and fast speed of urbanization is promoting the need to perceive cities and its climate implication. In a present-day, the UHI effect has develop endemic warning to human for their health and energy utilization, mostly in dense unplanned city area with density of population high. Land use changes due to urbanization in cities can also change the energy balance; in return of this, it influence the urban thermal climate, which results in the UHI effect. The urban thermal climate not only fluctuate from its village or rural area but varies inside the urban center. To understand the causes of intra-urban variation is the step one for ameliorating urban organization and growth. This study focused on the characterization of UHI for the Raipur city and evaluating all the UHI parameter such as magnitude of UHI, spatial extent, orientation, central location with the help of UHI parameters due to which identification of maximum magnitude for the month after the development of LULC classification for the Raipur. After, identification the impact of urban heat island (UHI) for each class along with sub- class. The methodology describe characterization of UHI, LULC mapping, collection of satellite data for the city retrieval of LST map from Landsat and correlation studies. In this study UHI is characterized for both mesoscale and local scale. For the meso-level study MODIS type of dataset are used and for the local level study LANDSAT type of data are used. The conclusion of study with identification of LULC in terms of UHI. This study tries to recognize the type of land use which effect ambient temperature to increase. |
