Present study aims to estimate damage after an earthquake in Andaman and Sumatra region which comes under a seismically active zone. This report also contains the comparisons of ground motion equations and damage caused by great Sumatra earthquake occurred in 2004. The great Sumatra earthquake caused Tsunami which also caused severe damage along with earthquake. PGA values are calculated using some GMPE’S and NGA relations and also by using some intensity based relations. A 0.2 x 0.2 grid is formed around the Andaman region and nodes are assigned. At each node the data required for PGA calculation is collected like distance from fault to node, latitude, longitude etc. maps are generated using this data which gives us the variation of PGA in that area. The comparison of PGA through different methods has also been shown in this report. The main objective of the study is to estimate the peak ground acceleration using for the Andaman region and compare and analyze the current scenario of ground motion at that site. It will help in taking proper measures for the much coveted mitigation of devastating effects of future seismic tremors.en_US
