dc.description.abstract | Strong motion records of any station cannot be fully utilized without proper site characterization. To get an assessment of site characteristics at Haridwar, field testing was conducted at 50 sites . The site characteristics assessed here are determined using joint inversion of dispersion curve obtained from Multi channel Analysis of Surface waves (MASW) and Horizontal to Vertical Spectral Ratio (HVSR) from ambient noise results simultaneously to estimate shear wave velocity profiles. The benefit of using this method is that it provides shear wave velocity profile up to bedrock depth. Site class obtained from this study as per site classification scheme provided in PESMOS and NEHRP is also described. Site amplification depends upon the local geology present beneath the site. Ground response analysis (GRA) has been carried out for all 50 sites using spectrum compatible motion for zone IV in software STRATA. Reliability of site amplification depends upon the input parameters. For considered spectrum compatible motion for zone IV , parameters have been calculated such as PGA , response spectra, fourier amplitude spectra etc. The response spectrum have been calculated at 5 % damping for each site. | en_US |
