dc.description.abstractThe Indo-Burma (Myanmar) area includes features of active subduction zones such as a Wadati-Benioff zone of earthquakes, a magmatic arc, thrust and fold belts. The Sumatra earthquake of 2004 occurred on this plate. In this project report I have studied the previous earthquakes for their b value to find out whether earthquake of such magnitude was expected or not.en_US
