Abstract: | The current work presents an analytical study of sheet pile wall behaviour, when its backfill is subjected to strip loading in both form- static and dynamic. The work has been done in PLAXIS 2D, which is a finite element software. In case of static loading, the backfill has been reinforced with geogrid. The parameters which have been varied are loading intensity, position of strip load, and vertical spacing of geogrid. After analysing the models, results have been published in form of maximum bending moment occurred and deflection of sheet pile wall at its head. In case of dynamic loading, simulation of deep dynamic compaction has been done and effect of loading on sheet pile behaviour has been analysed. The parameter which has been varied are hammer application efficiency, depth of embedment in in-situ sand, position of water table. Finally results have been presented in form of graphs, tables and trend lines to derive genuine insight for design of such work. Strength reduction factor has been used to simulate the soil close to sheet pile wall. |
