Calculation of no. of optical photons produced in a scintillator due to absorption of nu- clear radiation has widespread use in various applications such as gamma spectroscopy, Single Photon Emission Tomography (SPET), Positron Emission Tomography(PET), etc. One of the important properties of scintillation detector is its energy resolution. GEANT4 simulation toolkit is the an e ective platform where one can simulate gamma photons and also production of optical photons which provides information about the energy resolution. In this project, GEANT4 toolkit is used to simulate the production of optical photons in scintillators in order to understand the e ect of shape of scintillator on the energy resolution of scintillation detector for gamma rays.en_US
