dc.description.abstractin composite members two or more elements are joined together so that they are stronger, stiffer, and more ductile than the sum of the individual elements which are now commonly used in practice. The elements are connected together with shear connectors to transfer the longitudinal shear, the deformable nature of connectors result in slip which leads to partial interaction. This makes the behaviour of composite structures complex, so that most composite structures are designed assuming no slip, full interaction, which gives higher strength and stiffness. In order to determine the true stiffness, to estimate the amount of slip to prevent fracture of shear connectors due to excessive slip, it is necessary to allow for slip in the mathematical model. Various partial interaction theories are proposed by researches as well as adopted in codes of practice. The main objective of the present research work is to review various partial interaction theories available in literature with reference to prediction of deflection. So, in this regard Indian Standards IRC-22 and IS 11384 are critically reviewed and difference in deflection due to different theories is illustrated and also Influence of different parameters on deflection of beam using presented theories were shown. Finite element model using ANSYS WORKBENCH for extreme contacts with reference to deflection is performed. The results and its significance is discussed.en_US
