Abstract: In the present dissertation low crystalline iron oxy hydroxide and oxides such as goethite (a-FeOOH), akageneite (I3-FeOOH) and hematite (a-Fe2O3) were synthesized by analytical methods such as goethite was synthesized by precipitation method, akageneite was synthesized by hydrolysis of ferric chloride and hematite was synthesized by hydrothermal method. These catalysts were characterized by different analytical techniques like Electronic spectral studies, FT-IR, XRD patterns and Fe-SEM along with EDAX. The efficiency of these catalysts was tested on decomposition of hydrogen peroxide and phenol. There are two main products catechol and hydroquinone was formed during the decomposition of phenol and all reactant and products were analysed by gas chromatography. The decomposition of hydrogen peroxide was carried out by redox titration method by KMn04 at one and two hours' time interval.
