Abstract: New transition metal-substituted perovskite titanates, Pb)..XLaXTiI.XJ2MX/203 (M = Fe, Co, Mn) and Dion-Jacobson type layered perovskite niobates, KCa2_XLaXNb3_,<J2MX/2010 (M = Fe, Mn, Co) have been synthesized. The compounds are characterized by Powder X-ray Diffraction (PXD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis and UV-Visible Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS). Photocatalytic activity of the Fe-members of both the series of compounds has been explored by way of Methylene Blue degradation under natural sunlight. The details of these investigations are presented in the dissertation.
