dc.description.abstractDisaster is unprecedented event and responsible for loss due to economic, social and political damages in the society. The prediction of Disaster is very difficult in terms of type and magnitude of disaster. It has huge impact on the local population especially the poorest people in the society. The poorest people in the society work hard for several years with the hope to increase their income and properties and try to come Out from the poverty cycle. Having lost everything in disaster, they trap back into the poverty cycle. Therefore, there is need to safeguard social-economic vulnerability people. So, the concept of micro-insurance play significant role to protect the - vulnerable people in the society. The disaster micro-insurance should be seen for the long term disaster risk reduction - in wide scale in the context of disaster management. There is need to increase the awareness among the people, especially the poorest people in the society. The study includes the types of the micro-insurance, types of the delivery model, Identification of the best delivery model, A Case study of Afat Vimo in Orissa and finally proposes a flow chart for the implementation of the micro-insurance schemes. The aim of the study is that to identification of the best delivery model among full service model, partner-agent model, community based model and provider model. Finally, proposed relevant strategies for the implementation of the micro-insurance schemes in the context of the disaster management.en_US
