Disorders associated with inflammation like asthma, autoimmune diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, transplant rejection etc. are a growing health concern for human civilization . A number of anti-inflammatory drugs are available in the market, but the long term use of these drugs can cause adverse gastrointestinal effects, stroke etc and hence there is a need to develop safer anti-inflammatory drugs. Some efforts had been made by us in this direction which are described in this thesis. For the sake of clarity, the work embodied in the thesis has been divided into five chapters. First Chapter: General introduction : In this chapter, recent work reported in literature on the synthesis, anti inflammatory and analgesic activities evaluation of amidine & guanidine; hydrazide & hydrazone; imidazole and pyrimidine derivatives and Schiff bases have been summarized. Various compounds synthesized and reported in the following chapters were characterized by IR, 'HNMR, Mass (ESIMS, EIMS, FABMS, GCMS) spectra and elemental analysis. Second Chapter : It is divided into two parts, i.e., 2a and 2b. Part 2a : It deals with the synthesis of some amidine derivatives (Ia-i) by following reaction scheme 2a...................en_US
