Various health problems due to which human beings suffer, inflammatory diseases and diseases mediated by cyclin dependent kinase and glycogen synthase kinase such as cancer, nervous system disorders, viral infection, cardiovascular diseases, etc. are quite common. A number of anti-inflammatory drugs and a very few cyclin dependent kinase and glycogen synthase kinase inhibitors are available in the market. Prolonged use of anti-inflammatory drugs cause adverse gastrointestinal effects and hence there is a need to develop safer anti inflammatory and kinase inhibiting drugs. We have made some efforts in this direction which are illustrated in this thesis. For the sake of clarity, the work embodied in the thesis has been divided into five chapters. ......................en_US
