Abstract: Bearings are the machine elements which are extensively used in rotating machine parts and are subjected to dynamic conditions and so they are more liable to failure. The close monitoring of bearing is very necessary to minimize the downtime and failure of machine. Hence, due to the elevated demand, today‟s maintenance strategies are mostly based on current health state so that irrelevant machine downtime and manufacturing cost are minimized as much as possible. Diagnostics and prognostics are two methods which are used for observing the condition of the bearing. A lot of growth has been done in the Diagnostics field but the field of prognostics is comparatively new. As a fact diagnostics is a segment of prognostics. In prognosis, we evaluate the remaining useful life of bearing established on current health condition of bearing. In the current study, FEM analysis i.e. Static analysis, Modal analysis and dynamic analysis are done to study the effect of shaft speeds and loadings conditions on bearing. By modal analysis natural frequencies are obtained. By bearing prognostics simulator various run time to failure test has been conducted on SKF 6205 bearings which are under different shaft speed and loading conditions. The data from the test rig is recorded and saved into the system using data acquisition system. This recorded data is then used for analysis using Vibra Quest software. The resulting attributes from analysis are then employed for fault diagnostics and prognostics.
