Inflammatory diseases, cancer, and diseases mediated by cyclin dependent kinase and glycogen synthase kinase such as cancer, nervous system disorders, viral infection, cardiovascular diseases, Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative disorders are serious health problems faced by human beings. Large number of antiinflammatory and a few anticancer drugs are available in the market. Prolonged use of antiinflammatory drugs cause adverse gastrointestinal effects and hence there is need to develop safer and effective antiinflammatory, anticancer and kinase inhibiting drugs. We have made some efforts in this direction, which are illustrated in this thesis. For the sake of clarity, the workembodied in the thesis has been divided into five chapters. First Chapter: Heterocyclic compounds as inflammation inhibitors and as kinase inhibitors: In this chapter, recent work reported in literature on the synthesis, antiinflammatory and kinase inhibition activities evaluation of acridine, pyrimidine, condensed pyrimidine, pyrazine & pyridine, benzimidazole & benzoxazole derivatives have been described. Various compounds synthesized and reported in the following chapters were characterized by IR, 'HNMR and Mass (HRMS, EIMS, LRES MS, FABMS) spectra and in some cases by elemental analyses. Second Chapter: It deals with the synthesis ofsome acridinyl thiazolino derivatives i.e Illa-o &Va-h by following reaction schemes 2.1 and 2.2 respectively, ....................en_US
