The deterioration of pavements in the last few decades calls for effective methods for condition evaluation and maintenance. The maintenance operation and design activities in respect of all types of roads and highways involve the assessment of road condition, diagnosis of the problem and adopting the most appropriate strategy. Pavement evaluation to be undertaken for this purpose from time to time which would assess the extent up to which the pavement fulfils the intended requirement and facilitate the preventive or maintenance actions. To assess and evaluate the condition of Pavement structures practically there are two groups namely Functional Evaluation is primarily a qualitative evaluation which is concerned with serviceability performance and deals with overall behavior of a pavement and rates a pavement for its riding quality to vehicular traffic andStructural Evaluation is a quantitative evaluation and it deals with the assessment of structural adequacy of the pavement for rehabilitation. The commonly used equipments for evaluation of pavements by non-destructive testing such as Rolling Straight Edge, Roughometer, Benkelman Beam, Falling Weight Defelectometer, Loadman and etc. are devices commonly used in India and Foreign Countries. This Dissertation describes the use of non-destructive pavement tests (Loadman, Benkelman Beam, and Merlin) for measurement of structural deflection and functional condition of the flexible pavement, there methods and the collection of each data, the analysis of each study sections and overlay design by using Benkelman Beam values and the procedures given in IRC: 81-1997 are done for strengthening of existing flexible pavement.en_US
