Abstract: A road pavement continuously deteriorates under the combined effects of traffic loading and environment conditions. The ability of the road to satisfy these demands over the design period is known as performance. Developing the relationship between distresses is useful for efficient management of transport infrastructure. In general, evaluation of pavement distresses is done by statistical techniques such as regression analysis. This conventional method for modelling the relationship between distresses is complex because most suited relation between them is of non-linear nature. The dissertation exhibits the relationship between pavement serviceability and roughness and also the relationship between roughness and distress parameters. For this statistical correlation techniques including linear and non-linear modelling are used. Data was collected from two of the national highways, one in Gorakhpur, UP and other in Ernakulam, Kerala. Different trends between the roughness and distresses has been observed and assessed for the best fit.
