Abstract: | With increase in population, the dependent on fossil fuel increases and depletion of fossil fuel reserve and the environment concern became more issues these days. It has been thought for renewable energy which is inexhaustible and environmental friendly for the electricity generation from the renewable energy sources can be a better solution. Mostly in the remote areas, where grid supply is not available uses the kerosene and fuel wood for lighting and cooking etc. Therefore, the development of integrated or hybrid energy system would be better solution for them. The stand-alone electricity generation has become obsolete due to low reliability, poor quality power supply and large system size. With the integration of renewable energies, the strength of the other sources is be used to compensate the weakness of the other. Due to the intermittent characteristics of the integrated renewable energies, the conventional energy sources are introduced in renewable energy system basically for the reliable power supply and to reduce the system sizes of the renewable energy system which ultimately the reduction of the cost. The main important aspects and concern of the Hybrid Energy System is to provide reliable power supply combining with non-conventional sources to minimize the system size to reduce the total cost, subsequently to supply the power at lesser cost i.e, to reduce the cost per unit of energy generation. The area selected in this study has potential of solar energy with annual average solar radiation of 5.53kWh/m2/day and annual average wind speed of 6.7m/s. The load demand in that area is 700kW as maximum and minimum as 10kW and the maximum load are domestic loads. By using PSO technique, the sizing of the renewable generators are obtained with the objective functions to maximize the revenue generation from the renewable sources. The total capacity of HES is worked out as 1407kW which is able to replace 70% of grid power |
