In the present work the stabilization of water-in-oil emulsion prepared with water dispersed in a continuous diesel phase using two different non-ionic surfactants (Span 80 and Tween 80) has been studied. The emulsions were prepared such that their mixture HLB is 5.5. The water–in–oil emulsions have been prepared by ultrasonication. The stability of the emulsion has been studied by varying different parameters and determined on the basis of turbidity measurements at different wavelengths using UV Spectrophotometer. A mathematical model has been developed using Box Behnken Design (BBD) approach with Response Surface Methodology (RSM), to optimize the stable conditions for the emulsions. Four responses have been taken in consideration. The results shows that the experimental results best fits the mathematical model developed and can reasonably predict turbidity for a combination of input parameters other than the ones used for model prediction. Seven optimum results have been obtained for high desirability for stability of emulsion. From the present work it can be concluded that higher the turbidity, higher will be the stability of the emulsionen_US
