dc.description.abstractWord Recognition using Artificial Neural Networks, implemented the back-propagation neural network for developing word recognition software. The goal is to adapt the parameters of the network so that it performs well for patterns from outside the training set. The word recognition software is made using Java2 and efficiently recognizes all alphanumeric characters which the user writes on the screen. The GUI for the software, developed using the Swing features provided in Java2, makes it highly ergonomic and purposeful. The software can also be extended for developing a vehicle number-plate recognition system, Signature Verification systemen_US
