dc.description.abstract | Recent years have witnessed a rapid increase in the use of computer softwares by construction industry for the analysis, design and drafting. The availability of standardised software packages has increased manifold and new users enjoy a wide variety of off-the-shelf options. In this dissertation, a software package for design of RC Columns has been developed. The design of reinforced concrete columns is based on Limit State Method of design satisfying IS:456 (1978) Code Provisions. The design procedure is computerised to full automation for square/rectangular cross-sections. The package can design axially loaded column, axially loaded with uniaxial bending and axially loaded with biaxial bending. It can handle both short and long columns. The package eliminates the cumbersome procedure of refering to charts, tables etc. for their design. The package provides more accurate and speedy solution to design of columns. The program is written C language. The software is interactive, user friendly and easy to modify. The input is minimal. The package can help designer to make economical, rational and efficient design. Some test problems have also been illustrated. | en_US |
