Seaports play an important role both at the time of peace and war. It is well known that sea transport is the cheapest of all. Trade is carried out through ports from time immemorial. The international relations, cultural developments, religion and education spread through the seaways. Railways, roadways and inland waterways are limited to the boundaries and airways are costly which can carry only valuable light commodities. Shipping is the most economic means to carry heavy and bulk cargo like, minerals, agricultural products, etc around the globe. The advent of time and technology has brought in fast moving and huge ocean going vessels. As a result the size of the ports has increased enormously with the use of heavy equipment for loading and unloading cargo.en_US
