Abstract: Water is one of the critical infrastructures in the development of urban area and its environmental sustainability. It has strong links with urban productivity, poverty and its reduction and environmental health. Rapid urbanization and metropolitan concentration of urban population has left the cities with severe shortage of drinking water. It is now globally accepted that: �â� �¢ Water is a finite and vulnerable resource. �â� �¢ Water should be managed at the lowest possible government level �â� �¢ Women are central to providing, managing and safeguarding water. D Water has economic value and should be recognized as an economic good. (1991, International Conference on Water and Environment, Dublin). For the year 2025, taking into account possible scenarios of demographic, environmental, economic, cultural, and political changes has evolved three global scenarios. These are:
