Abstract: Property tax is one of the major sources of revenue for our government. It is calculated and colleted by Municipal Corporation of each district. It is collected to provide for the many services most of us take for granted. Schools, police and fire protection and public libraries are possible because of revenue from the property tax. Everybody is asked to pay their fair share of the cost of these services by paying tax in proportion to the value of their property. The amount of tax levied is based upon Property Richness Index and rental value or construction cost of property. Property Richness Index is an important factor in tax calculation. Municipal Corporation subjectively define's the values of PRI for different zones in a district. Here, an objective method for calculation of PRI is suggested that takes into account spatial location of property. For every spatial location in a district, a PRI value is calculated. This method considers the facilities available in that location and the factors that increase the price of land of that location. To calculate PRI, relative weights of all the features are found using Analytical Hierarchy Process. The distances of nearest feature from the point whose PRI is to be calculated are also found. Using Fuzzy logic, weights are calculated for these distances. PRI is calculated using these two weights. The final PRI values are displayed on Web for the convenience of users.
