In this thesis, the various configurations of UPFCs have been simulated using the digital simulation tool, PSCAD/EMTDC V4.1. And the comparative analysis is presented, by analyzing the various configurations of UPFCs on the basis of DC Bus voltage magnitude and its variations, physical structure, possible scheme for implementation, switching frequency, harmonic content and rating of UPFC. The simulation studies have been carried out using the four machine, 10 bus, two area standard system. It is concluded that, the compensation provided by the series inverter, and hence the amounts of real and reactive power supplied by the series inverter to the power system are same in both the cases by maintaining the two different DC Bus voltages by two different configurations of the inverters.en_US
