dc.description.abstractThe recent research works over Concrete filled tubes have illustrated that their behavior in terms of structural advantage & economy is much better than conventional reinforced concrete works. Especially due to their high strength, ductility & large energy absorbing capacity they find their use in Zones of High seismicity. They are used worldwide for numerous applications in countries like Japan, America, China, and Australia etc. A number of research works are ongoing worldwide to deeply understand their behavior & to study the effect of various parameters such as grade of materials, aspect ratio & slenderness ratio. The aim of this investigation is to study the effect of these parameters over flexural behaviour. Most of the research work has been done in understanding the axial behavior but very little has been devoted to understand the flexural behavior. The literature review given in this dissertation mostly concentrates over the behavior of CFTs under flexure. This dissertation presents a study of the flexural behavior of 15 numbers of 1000 mm span high-strength rectangular steel. hollow sections specimens tested to failure under pure bending. The steel tubes were of varying depth with a fixed width. These tubes were fabricated from mild steel plates of 16 gauge (1.5875 mm) thickness. The concrete used was M50 grade self-compacting. A good ductility performance was observed in most of the tests. Local buckling was specifically noted on the compression face of the specimens. In this study an effort has been made to find the influence of D/t & D/B ratios over the flexural behavior of CFTs.en_US
