Abstract: Production industries require a large column free space and for the purpose to cover a certain area, a series of trusses are placed on a wall or two parallel lines of columns. Truss is a frame work in which the members are connected at their ends with various steel sections. For the design of the truss system various components which are connected to form a truss are required to be designed. Design process is also a trial and error process for the selection of any required member and because of the large number of components are presents in the trusses repetitive design procedure is required to be followed and for the connection of those components, necessary connective components also has to be designed. So, to come out from this type of repetitive laborious job it is helpful to use such type of software packages. For this purpose in this thesis work a computer based user friendly and interactive software package is developed in VB.NET using C# language, which deals with two main process of the design procedure of an industrial truss system, which are the calculation of loads acting on the structure and design procedure of the truss components and its supporting system such as the rafters, ties, struts, slings, columns, column bases, gable ends, vertical and rafter bracings, etc. and the connections of—those—components—will be I . I II II II • I • I • • industrial truss system's components all possible options for the design sections, connective components are provided to user from where user can choose required type of section and its configuration and user will get the minimum section which satisfies all the requirements of the design procedure.
