A SOFTWARE PACKAGE FOR ESTIMATION OF WATER BALANCE FROM LAKE PICHHOLA

Abstract

A user friendly interactive package LakeCAD has been developed in this thesis. LakeCAD is for calculating the components of lake water balance. This package has been developed on Pentium computer using windows operating system. This package also works on operation systems of XP, Crystal Window and Window Vista® Models used in the methodology are SCS-CN method for calculation of runoff from the catchment, FAO no 56 for calculation of net radiation, modified Pen-man equation for evaporation calculation. This report also contains illustration of application of the package for estimation of water balance components of Pichola Lake, which is located in Udaipur. The lake is a major drinking water supply for the city of Udaipur. The Lake is located on latitude of 24° 34' N and has an elevation of 587 m from the Mean Sea Level. The program gives the text file as output file. All details are provided in the output file.
