With the increasing availability of mini- and microcomputers in design offices, a computerized procedure for designing concrete slabs, beams and columns using micro-computers is desirable. Using computer software's now it is possible to analyze and design various civil engineering structures with much greater accuracy and with a marked reduction in the time involved. In this dissertation, a package for design of R.C.0 column and design of isolated footing has been developed. The above said package is based on the Limit State Method of design satisfying IS: 456 -2000 Code Provisions. The package uses design charts and curves given in IS: 456-2000, which are incorporated in programming to design rectangular and square columns with load and biaxial bending and it designs the rectangular and square isolated footing. The programs for the package written in Visual Basics 6.0 with graphical features are user friendly, very interactive and easy to modify. With the package we can draw the cross section of the column and the footing. The software has been validated by comparing results with different solved examples which are taken from standard books. The example solved includes the design axially loaded column, uniaxial column, biaxial column, slender column and flat isolated footing.en_US
