Abstract: The theory of the magnetic static frequency doubler has been developed on the basis of pieces se linear assumption of the magnetisation characteristic of the core material. A static frequency doubler of 1 KW output at 22D volts,. OC)/1©0 cycle per second operation was designed and assembled in the workshop. Ezp. erimental and theoretical results are com red and the difference between the two is explained. The general considerations for the design of high frequency and high output frequency doublers are pointed out. The output of the doubler and its harmonic contents are found out. The results have been explained from the theoretical considerations wherever possible. The general method of obtaining any desired level of frequency multiplication by the use of satura-ble core reactors is also described briefly. The study of the industrial applications of the doubler is done with special reference to their role in control circuits. The use of these doublers in two phase and three phase induction motor drives is discussed briefly, with a mention of the special features of these drives
