C transmission has gained a wide spread acceptance internationally for bulk power transmission. This is also an acceptable mode to interconnect, two large AC systems having differnt frequencies as has happend in Japan. Load flow studies of such integrated HVDC and Ac system becomes a very important aspect for system design. The work in this area has started as early in sixties and newer approaches were further developed. In the present work a load flow program has been developed for such integrated HVDC/AC system. The program was written-in FORTRAN-77, developed around IBM PC-AT. The developed program has been validated on 14 bus AEP system and used to predict the performance of the integrated HVDC/AC system of NTPC of India. The results are on expected lines. The organisation of the thesis includes a review work in Chapter II, the algorithm details in Chapter III, flow chart in Chapter IV. The c:;onc1u<slons halve been becr.i drawn in Chapter V together with the scope of the future work.en_US
