Several experiments were performed in our high current laboratory to measure the cable temperature 9 when laid in air as well as when buried directly in ground. The results of these experiments show very good agreement with the estimated values based on the thermal equivalent circuit under steady state condition. The short time loading and emergency loading were also tested and verified in both the cases and results were found quite satisfactory.. The transient temperatures upto steady state were also noted and attempts were made to match them with the values estimated. But, inspite of our best efforts we were not able to get good agreement in the time constant values. Further experimental work and analysis is necessary in this direction.en_US
