Issue Date: 1981
Abstract: In the modern powerhouses, the protection of equipments has become very important, Invariably the protection of machines is n interdependent phenomenon, i. e„ the protection of one machine is related to a group ref machines. The system requires the monitoring of a large number of parameters and after processing the data the coimrmde have to be issued to various machines for control purposes. The invention of microprocessor has made possible the design of such equipments for protection and control purposes. It is possible to monitor a very large number of interdependent parameters,, process them and then decide the control command for various machines with the help of a small desk top micro processor based equipment. Synchronization of generators on to the main bus is an important problem. it requires the continuous monitoring of veltage,f equency and phase angle of generator and the bus. The control commands, have to be issued to the generator C,B., field circuit and governors to achieve safe nynchron .zatien,,
